Nakhind Trek – Ridge Walk, Needle Hole & Nature's Calm in the Sahyadris...!

PEACEFUL AND OFFBEAT TREK |
If you want peace, raw nature, and a ridge walk that gives you goosebumps then you’ve got to experience Nakhind Trek. It’s one of the lesser-known but truly breathtaking treks in Maharashtra. I’ve done this trek twice — once in monsoon with a big group, and again in summer with just close friends. Both times were completely different, but equally unforgettable!
In this blog, I’ll be sharing my real experience, along with trek details, travel tips, and why Nakhind should be your next weekend escape.
⛰ What is Nakhind Trek All
About?
Nakhind Trek is famous for its unique ridge walk and the natural rock formation called “Nedhe” (a needle hole). This place gives you the true feel of being deep inside the Sahyadris untouched, raw, and beautiful.
At an altitude of around 2300 ft, it’s not too high, but the trail and the views it offers are incredible. This is not your usual touristy trek it’s more offbeat, less crowded, and perfect for those who love silence and wilderness.
Here we start guysss,
✨ My Nakhind Trek Experience
🌧️ First Visit – Monsoon Madness with a Big GroupThe first time I did Nakhind was during the monsoon, and wow — the entire trail felt alive! We were a big group with full of energy, noise, and excitement. The route was covered in lush greenery, the air was cool, and there were even tiny waterfalls flowing along the trail. That added so much charm to the trek, we couldn’t resist pausing to splash around and click a few pictures.
Some parts of the path were slippery, but it made the journey even more fun and adventurous. The sound of flowing water, chirping birds, and mist-covered trees made it feel like we had entered another world.
What I loved most? That feeling of walking in clouds, crossing jungle patches, and the surprise when we reached the top and suddenly the entire Sahyadri range opened up in front of us. And then came the famous "Nedhe" (natural needle hole) like nature carved a window just for trekkers to frame the mountains.
We lay down there for a while, letting the cool breeze and mist hit our faces. I still remember how peaceful it felt, despite the crowd.
The second time was in early summer with just a few close friends. And trust me, it was a completely different trek.
The biggest surprise? We lost the route for a while! The entire trail was covered with tall dry grass, and there were no markings or signs. For almost half an hour, we kept searching, laughing, guessing, retracing our steps until we finally spotted a narrow footpath going uphill.
Despite the heat, this trek gave me one of the calmest experiences. There were no other trekkers, no noise just us, the trail, and the wind. The final ridge walk before the summit felt like walking into the sky. On reaching the top, we again reached the Nedhe, where we just lay down under the sky, feeling the mountain breeze. Pure bliss.
[And one special memory, I brought one of my friends who had never done a trek before, and she completed it like a champ! She was nervous at first but totally enjoyed the journey. That’s the beauty of trekking it brings out strength you didn’t know you had.]

- Carry your own food and at least 3 liters of water. No stalls at base or along the way.
- Wear trekking shoes with grip, especially in monsoon.
- Start early from Vangani to avoid trekking in heat.
- Not suitable for absolute beginners without guidance.
- There are no toilets or shelters at the base or top — plan accordingly.
- Carry a cap, sunglasses, and sunblock in summer. Also, a light jacket in monsoon.
- Budget-wise: Keep around ₹350–₹400 in cash for local transport and snacks from Vangani.
- No food stalls or shops en route or at the base, so carry everything from the start.
Important Tip: When you hire an auto
from Vangani station to reach the base village, take the driver's contact

help you get back to the station without delay.
Here are some my few words about this trek
Nakhind Trek is not commercial, not flashy but that’s
exactly its charm. It’s wild, calm, and beautiful. Whether it’s your first trek
or tenth, it gives you something new. The Nedhe, the ridge walk, and that
endless view all of it stays with you long after the trek is over.
If you’re looking for a quiet escape into nature, and you’re
up for a little adventure, Nakhind should be your next plan. 🌿⛰️
Again as a poet i cant leave this blog without poem
So here’s to all who dare to try
To chase the clouds, to touch the sky
Your strength inspires, your spirit shines
In every trekker’s heart, it forever shines.
Be Brave, Be You, Be Kind
